Heat Recovery Ventilation

Keep Your Home Warm and Fresh

Our systems recover up to 93% of your home's heat while continuously supplying clean, filtered air — so your home stays warm without wasting energy.

How It Works

Today's well-insulated homes need mechanical ventilation to stay healthy. The system draws stale air out of bathrooms and kitchens, recovers the heat from it, and uses that heat to warm fresh air coming in from outside.

Continuous Extract & Supply

Stale, moist air is continuously extracted from "wet rooms" (kitchen, utility, bathrooms), while pre-warmed fresh air is supplied to living rooms and bedrooms.

90%+ Thermal Efficiency

The heat exchanger core transfers thermal energy from outgoing stale air to the clean incoming air, meaning your heating system does not have to work to heat incoming cold air.

Advanced Air Filtration

Equipped with G4 and F7 filters that catch fine dust, microscopic pollen particles, and heavy vehicle emissions before they can enter your home.

Fresh Air to Every Room

A well-designed MVHR system treats every room differently. Living spaces and bedrooms receive a continuous supply of clean, pre-warmed air. Wet rooms — bathrooms, kitchens, and utility rooms — are placed on the extract side, drawing moisture and stale air out before it can cause problems elsewhere in the house.

Fresh Air to Living Spaces

Supply vents are positioned in bedrooms, living rooms, and studies — the rooms where you spend most of your time. Clean, pre-warmed air flows in gently and continuously.

Extract from Wet Rooms

Humidity, cooking smells, and stale air are pulled out at source from bathrooms, en-suites, kitchens, utility rooms, and WCs — before they spread to the rest of the house.

Balanced Airflow Throughout

Supply and extract volumes are carefully matched room by room. The result is a steady, balanced pressure across the whole house — no draughts, no dead spots.

Key Benefits

Benefits of Heat Recovery Ventilation

Ideal for new builds and renovations — keeps your home dry, healthy, and cheaper to heat.

Massive Heating Savings

Reduces space heating demand dramatically. By recapturing up to 93% of indoor heat, your boilers or heat pumps run far more efficiently.

Zero Condensation & Mould

Constant balanced airflow keeps humidity levels optimal, preventing localized cold spots, window condensation, and dangerous black mould.

Allergy & Asthma Relief

Incoming fresh air is thoroughly filtered, removing pollen, airborne spores, pet dander, and traffic dust. Ideal for family health.

Draft-Free Comfort

Traditional trickle vents let in freezing drafts and external noise. MHRV delivers pre-warmed fresh air silently, keeping windows closed.

Part F Compliance

Meets and exceeds all technical guidance documents under current Irish Building Regulations for residential air-tightness.

Protects Building Structure

Sustained indoor moisture is a primary cause of structural rot and paint damage. MVHR keeps timber frame and masonry dry and healthy.

FAQs

Common Questions

Answers to common questions about heat recovery ventilation.

Is MVHR only suitable for new builds?

While MVHR is standard in new highly-insulated, air-tight builds, it is also highly suited for deep retrofits (achieving an air-tightness below 5 m3/hr/m2). For older properties that are not fully air-tight, Demand Control Ventilation (DCV) may be a more appropriate solution.

How often do filters need to be changed?

We recommend changing filters every year. In highly populated urban areas or near busy roads, filters may require more frequent changes to maintain optimal airflow and filtration.

Are MHRV systems noisy?

No. A correctly designed and professionally balanced rigid or semi-rigid ducting system is practically silent. The unit itself is typically installed in an attic, utility room, or hot press with acoustic silencing features to prevent duct noise transmission.

Can I open my windows if I have MVHR installed?

Yes, absolutely. You can open windows whenever you wish. However, you will find you rarely need to, as the system constantly circulates fresh, pre-warmed, clean air throughout your home automatically.
